  9. MaxonMAGIC is a completely new and unique program, which will 
  10. make your Amiga do things you never even thought of.
  11. When you are not working, MaxonMAGIC will entertain you with 
  12. animated and funny screenblankers und also save your monitor 
  13. from burning in.
  14. You can choose between 15 colorful effects, like an aquarium 
  15. with lots of fishes, a flying breakfast or a melting workbench 
  16. screen.
  17. But MaxonMAGIC will make even more impossible things come true: 
  18. your Amiga will learn to talk to you. Doing certain actions, it 
  19. will give some funny or naughty comments. Samples can be defined 
  20. for system functions or freely definable texts, which offers 
  21. infinite possiblities of combinations. The samples have highest 
  22. level of quality and can be expanded by your own samples.
  23. MaxonMAGIC includes two disks full of samples with many 
  24. different sounds or spoken comments, which guarentee a lot of 
  25. variety.

  63. This demo version of MaxonMAGIC is freely distributable. The
  64. complete program is commercial and available from MAXON Computer
  65. (currently only with German manual) for 79,- German Marks.

  81. ============

  83. Blankers
  84. ========

  86. After you installed and started MaxonMAGIC you can pop up its
  87. main window by pressing the keys <Shift-F1>. This window
  88. contains all settings. The left side shows the available
  89. effects, the right side the different options for the selected
  90. effect. The buttons "Global", "HotKey" and "Modul" switch
  91. between the fololowing options:

  93. Global
  94. ------
  95.  
  96. Time:      The time in minutes and seconds after which the
  97.            blanker is activated
  98. Volume:    The volume samples are played with
  99. Pri:       The priority MaxonMAGIC gets in multitasking
  100. Mouse:     For mouse acceleration
  101. CPU idle:  You can define how much CPU time has to be available
  102.            for the effect to be started. This is useful if the
  103.            is busy working (e.g. a raytracer). In this case
  104.            MaxonMAGIC will only open a black screen which 
  105.            won't need any CPU time at all.

  108. Hotkey
  109. ------
  110.  
  111. You can define the hotkeys for the main window and for
  112. activation of the blanker. Examples are "SHIFT F1", "ALT F3"
  113. or "CTRL SHIFT 1".
  114. The cycle-gadget "Mouse" lets you choose at which position
  115. the mouse pointer is activating the blanker (e.g. top left).
  116.  
  117. Module
  118. ------
  119.  
  120. This lets you change the settings for the active effect, like
  121. number of objects or speed. 
  122. Every effect has two stringgadgets for defining a FTM-song 
  123. or sample, which are played while the effect works.
  124.  
  125.  
  126. The gadget "Demo" lets you preview the effect with the actual
  127. settings.

  131. Audio
  132. =====
  133.  
  134. The gadget "Audio" brings you into a new part of MaxonMAGIC
  135. which allows you to define samples for certain system functions
  136. and actions.
  137.  
  138. The left side shows the available actions, the right one shows
  139. the available samples.
  140.  
  141. The left hand cycle-gadget lets you select one of three modes
  142. which define how a sample shall be handled if there is another
  143. one already playing: 
  144. Next sample waits, Next sample cancels, Ignore next sample
  145.  
  146. The two cycle-gadgets below the list of samples let you switch
  147. samples on or off and choose if a sample shall be loaded from
  148. disk if needed or kept in RAM all the time.

  151. Events
  152. ------
  153.  
  154. MaxonMAGIC offers you a lot of events samples can be defined for.
  155. The five Gadgets "Actions", "Keys", "Program", "Texts" and "Time"
  156. switch between different groups of events.
  157.  
  158. Actions:
  159. You can define samples for the system events
  160. Alert, ASL-Requester, Auto Requester, Close Screen, Close Window,
  161. Disk inserted/removed, Left Mousebutton, Open Screen, Open Window,
  162. Right Mousebutton
  163.  
  164. Keys:
  165. Samples can be defined for different groups of keys. The samples
  166. should not be loaded from disk but be kept in RAM.
  167.  
  168. Program:
  169. The list of events will be empty first. You now have to define
  170. programs you work with. When starting one of these programs
  171. the defined sample will be played.
  172. Simply type in the file name of the program in the string-gadget.
  173. If don't remember the correct name use the file requester by 
  174. clicking on the left gadget. After pressing of Return or selecting
  175. "Load" in the file requester the program's name is added to the 
  176. list above.
  177.  
  178. Texts:
  179. This part is very similar to the program-part. It lets you define
  180. samples for any sort of texts. The sample is played when the text
  181. is printed by a program or the system itself. 
  182. Select the N-gadget, type in the text and press Return. The text 
  183. will be added to the list above. The sample will also be played if
  184. your text is only part of a printed string. Also it is not case
  185. sensitive.

  187. Time:
  188. You can define samples for certain times. The list offers every hour 
  189. from 1 to 24 (1 am to 12 pm), every hour and quarters of a hour.
